History

This shrine which is called “Takenobu-Inari shrine” was founded in 859(the beginning of Heian Era) by FUJIWARA no Yoshisuke, who was aristocratic.
When you see an old map, you can find that there used to be the property of temple. It was also founded by FUJIWARA no Yoshisuke, and was called “Enmei-in temple(延命院)” , which means “longevity”, that is, it was a medical facility. He founded this building for people’s health and long life. Also, there was a school near here, so our ancestors put this shrine as a guardian of these places.
There used to be villas for aristocracy and central government, like today’s Tokyo. It is natural because Kyoto was the capital of Japan, and here was the very central area.
Later,　a person whose name was FUJIWARA no Takenobu greatly worshiped this shrine and managed to aggrandize a power of this God. That is why this shrine is now called “Takenobu –inari shrine”, and has been respected since foundation, for 1200 years.
The foundation FUJIWARA no Yoshisuke named his family and relatives as a head of the clan. So this shrine is related to “naming” even now. A lot of couples visit the shrine to decide their child’s name.

御神威・御神徳

稲荷大神への信仰は、我々日本人がもつ最も代表的、普遍的な信仰であり、人間の最も大切な生命に対する望願であり祈願であります。人間をはじめ万物の生命が生れ成育するのは、この大自然、大宇宙に人智を超えた神秘な力が存在することによるものであり、その無限の生命力を稲荷大神の御神威お恵みとして信仰するのが稲荷信仰であります。
武信稲荷大神は生命（身体・健康）精神（心）生産（農業・工業）生業（事業商売・職業）生活（家庭・暮らし）をはじめ人間生活の全てを守護される神であります。
稲荷大神は、古くは命を養うもとであるお米をはじめ、農作物の神としてお祀りされていましたが、社会が進歩発展し文化が振興し、商工業が盛んになるにつれて、産業守護神、商売繁昌の神、学術技芸の神としても信仰されるようになりました。
武信稲荷神社は、その御創祀のはじめからして暮らし、健康をまもられる神としての信仰が厚く、家内安全、健康長寿、病気平癒、交通安全、火難、盗難などにとくに大きな御加護、御利益を授け賜うのであります。
なお稲荷山の二の峰、荒神峰、剣石、薬力等にお塚としてもお祀りされています。
